¿Has visto la serie «Emily en Paris» (Netflix)? ¿Te gustó? Además de que me pareció rápida y entretenida, me gustó escuchar hablar a los personajes sobre las diferencias culturales entre EEUU y Francia. Por ejemplo, recuerdo una conversación donde se reconocía la obsesión por el trabajo del primero y las ganas de disfrutar la vida fuera de éste del segundo.
Esto me hizo mucho sentido, porque, justo en ese tiempo, por escuchar tanto podcast estadounidense, tuve una especie de “sobredosis” de los términos “productividad” y “carrera” (más cercanos a logro y competencia que al disfrute y al crecimiento personal).
Mientras eso sucedía, leía un libro muy interesante sobre rutinas de artistas, que a ratos me costaba abrir porque su título, “Daily rituals: women at work” (“Rituales diarios: mujeres en el trabajo”), me recordaba justamente esos dos conceptos. Me encantó conocer rutinas creativas de artistas de distinta índole y notar que no sólo todas eran distintas, sino también, que la experiencia del acto creativo y los espacios donde estos se realizaban lo eran…. un dato curioso: algunas escritoras, desarrollaron sus obras, al despertarse, en pijama y desde sus camas.

PD: Como disfruté tanto el libro, pinté una portada alternativa (está en el banner)… y, como era de mí para mí, modifiqué un poco el título para sentirlo más acogedor 😛

Have you watch the serie «Emily in Paris» (Netflix)? Did you like it? Besides considering that it goes fast and it’s entertaining, I liked listening to the characters talk about the cultural differences between the US and France. For example, I remember a conversation where they talked about the work obsession of the first one and the desire to enjoy life outside of work of the second one.
This made so much sense to me, because, just at that time, from listening to so many American podcasts, I had kind of an «overdose» of the terms «productivity» and «career» (closer to achievement and competence than to enjoyment and personal growth).
While that was going on, I was reading a very interesting book about artist routines, which at times I found it difficult to open because its title, “Daily rituals: women at work” (“Daily rituals: women at work”), reminded me of precisely those two concepts. I loved getting to know creative routines of artists of different kinds and noticing that not only they were all different, but also that the experience of the creative act and the spaces where they were performed were as well…. a curious fact: some writers developed their works, when they woke up, in pajamas and from their beds.
What was the last book that surprised you?

PS: Since I enjoyed the book so much, I painted an alternative cover (on the banner)… and, since it was by and for myself, I modified the title a bit to make it feel more welcoming 😛
